Ryan Bell—the Christian pastor who spent 2014 living as an atheist has decided he is now officially an atheist. He said that his wife is still Christian and that they coincide in peace (at least for now). I thought what he wrote was nice...

Magazine: You’ve lived as a Christian and an atheist. What’s one thing you wish more Christians knew about atheists? One thing you wish more atheists knew about Christians?

Ryan Bell: I wish more Christians knew that atheists are not nihilists who have no meaning to their lives or people with no moral compass. They’re not stubbornly rejecting God.

I wish more atheists knew that Christians care very deeply about knowledge and truth. They are not stupid. In every group there is a percentage that are ignorant—but if you take a wider view, Christian intellectuals have contributed a great deal to the body of human knowledge through history.

Wait, what's this? Liberation and religion in the same sentence? Do you notice how the word religion can leave such a repressed taste in peoples mouth, yet the rastafari found their religion liberating. Did you know that the Rastafari read scriptures and often quoted from them? We tend to listen to wisdom when the "right" person speaks it. When someone influential like Bob Marley sings words from scriptures in his songs, people cherish the lyrics. Sadly, so many are disillusioned by wisdom because of a handful of hateful fundamentalists, that are not of God. What is my point? Don't throw out the baby with the bathwater.

Each person's life seems very similar to that of a pearl. While we're all so unique and certainly have very different stories, every person has had to overcome something hard at one point or another in their life. Most of us would agree that whatever that something is, it always makes us stronger and more beautiful in the end.

If we could always see that every hardship is refining us more and more into our best, most beautiful selves, would life suddenly seem a little easier? If you knew every "bad" thing that ever happened didn't happen to you, but for you, how would that change your life? Everything truly is for our advancement and personal growth. What a wonderful gift. : )

It's called The Oneness....

It's ok to trust in your path, your religion, the way that moves your heart.

Rituals aren't meaningless, but we benefit from them more than God does. God is simple. God wants our hearts....

Personally, J.C. is the one that moves me. Yes, He is way, the truth and the life. No doubt about that for me. In going along with this theme of open-mindedness though, you will see that He would agree with this concept of accepting everyone as they are if you've ever read the passage below from Jeremiah. Christ doesn't belong to one religion. He is bigger than that.

“The days are surely coming,” says the LORD,
“when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel
         and the people of Judah.
It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors
when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt,
a covenant that they broke, though I was their husband,” says the LORD.
“But this is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time,”
         says the LORD.
“I will put my law within them and I will write it on their hearts;
And I will be their God, and they will be my people.
No longer will they teach one another, or say to each other, ‘Know the LORD,’
because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest,”
         says the LORD,
“because I will forgive their iniquity and will remember their sin no more.”
(Jeremiah 31:31-34)

Just try to see the bigger picture that's all. Perspective is so different for people.

There are many beautiful paths to God. Find the one that wakes you up inside and gives meaning to your life.
